The Epoxy Process
While the basic process is the same from one floor to the next, the particulars of your floor may demand variations that are difficult to ascertain at first glance. For this reason, we strongly recommend a consultation with a professional like JM Solutions Services.
When we first encounter a concrete surface, we address issues like previous spills and adhesives. In what is perhaps the most important step, we begin to prepare your concrete surface by grinding it to prepare the surface to accept the coating. If this step is not completed properly, any coating applied will eventually delaminate.
Next, we repair any cracks and holes This is done as part of the preparation for any garage floor coating. While this eliminates the appearance of these fissures, please know that with the natural shifting and settling of your home through the years, these may reappear over time.
Once the imperfections are taken care of, we apply the epoxy base coat. This color coordinates with the flakes we will use on your floor. We then apply the flake color of your choice, with a 100% coverage rate (unless specified otherwise). This ensures that you will have a uniform finished product.
Finally, we apply a polyaspartic topcoat, which maintains its color and finish without yellowing. This is what provides the perfect protection for your garage floor. Polyaspartic floor coatings are known for their durability and quick cure rates, allowing you to get back to business in short order.
We recommend waiting 12 hours to walk on your newly-coated surface, and 24-48 hours before driving or replacing heavy equipment on your new floor. This professional finish will serve you well for years to come, providing you with a beautiful, safe, and damage-resistant floor covering for your busy space.

Known for its ease of care, an epoxy flake floor is remarkably simple to maintain.
-
Keep the floor free from dirt and grime with occasional sweeping with a soft dust-mop or use of a shop vac.
-
Remove spills as soon as possible by spot cleaning the area. Usually warm water is all that is needed. If you need a little something more, Windex is fine to use.
-
For heavier mopping, use 1⁄2 cup ammonia diluted in a gallon of hot water OR 1 part Simple Green to 8 parts hot water.
-
Using walk off mats will help reduce the amount of dirt and grime that ends up on your epoxy flake floor.
-
AVOID citrus or vinegar based cleaners, as they can degloss the finish of the floor.
-
AVOID soap-based cleaners, as they can cause streaks.
-
AVOID harsh chemicals such as Comet.
-
AVOID abrasive cleaning aids such as steel wool.
